The Religion of Islam

(In the light of the Glorious Qurân and the Sunnah)

The Religion of Islam
The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word "Islam" itself means. The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism after Karl Marx. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and Hinduism after the Hindus. Islam is the true religion of "Allah" and as such, its name represents the central principle of Allah's "God's" religion;

10 Points of Enlightenment on What Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) Gave to Humanity .

All praise is due to Allah, and blessings and peace be upon His final Messenger.
Some non-Muslim westerners have been wondering what it is that Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) presented to humanity, particularly after the defamation of his honorable character by western media.
Assuming responsibility under the International Program for Introducing the Prophet of Mercy (blessings and peace be upon him), we deem it our duty to answer the questions regarding what our Prophet gave to humanity and the world. It can be briefly summarized as follows:
 Through revelation from God (Allah), Muhammad (Peace be upon him) transferred humanity from obedience and submission to other men to the worship and submission to God alone, associating nothing with Him. Consequently, human kind became free from servitude to other than Allah, and this is the greatest honor for mankind.

Scientific Accuracy of the Qur’an Amazes University of Toronto Professor

This message is based on an article entitled “Highlights of Human embryology
in the Koran and Hadith” by Dr. Keith Moore, Professor of Anatomy
and Chairman of the Department, Faculty of Medicine, at the University
of Toronto, 1982.
Dr. Moore points out that the study of how the human embryo develops
in the mother’s womb could not progress significantly without the use of
microscopes. Microscopes were not invented until the 17th century C.E.,
and were not used in this field of study until the 18th century. Therefore,
when Dr. Moore studied certain statements in the Qur’an on this subject,
he remarked, “I was amazed at the scientific accuracy of these statements
which were made in the 7thcentury C.E.,” The Qur’an in 39:6 states that God
made us in the wombs of our mothers in stages. Dr. Moore comments: “The
realization that the embryo develops in stages in the uterus was not proposed
until the 1759, and the stages used nowadays were not adopted
worldwide until the late 19th & early 20th century C.E.”

7 Reasons to Read the Glorious Qur’an

1. Inimitable
It dares you to disprove it. How? It says that humans cannot write a book
like this even if they pooled all their resources together and got help also
from the spirits. The Qur’an said this issue fourteen hundred years ago and
yet no one has been able to disprove it. Billions of books have been written-
but not another one like the Qur’an.

Cat Stevens & His Journey to Islam!

Before you read this : Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) used to be one
of the most famous POP singers in England in the 70th till he decided to
be a Muslim and Alhamdulillah he found the light of Allah!
All I have to say is all what you know already, to confirm what you already
know, the message of the Prophet ( peace be upon him ) as given by God
- the Religion of Truth. As human beings we are given a consciousness
and a duty that has placed us at the top of creation.

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world especially since sept. 11.

Your question about the increase in the "reversion to Islam" is a good one. You
have given me the excuse to do something that I have wanted to do for a long time.
I have wanted to write on the subject of "Reverts to Islam in Modern Times" and
the message that it carries to all of us Muslims about Islam TODAY.
BACK TO Islam?

Islamic method of Slaughtering animals is better

Shaddad Bin Aus has quoted this tradition of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H.)
"God calls for mercy in everything, so be merciful when you kill and when
you slaughter, sharpen your blade to relieve its pain".
Many allegations have been made that Islamic slaughter is not humane to animals.
However,Professor Schultz and hiscolleague Dr. Hazim of the HanoverUniversity, Germany,
proved through an experiment, using an electroencephalograph
(EEG) and electrocardiogram (ECG) that Islamic slaughter isTHE humane method of slaughter
and captive bolt stunning, practiced by the Western method, causes severe pain to the animal.
The results surprised many.

The Evil of Smoking

Smoking was discovered by the Spanish conquistadors in America, about
500 years ago; from Spain, it spread to the rest of Europe, and thence to
the Muslim world about 100 years later.
Unfortunately, while the West has long realized the dangers of smoking
and attempted to reduce it, in the Muslim lands, it has spread with little
or no interference.

Islam and me

My name is Lyndsey-Yazmeen Koenig; I am 17 years old and I live in
Maine in the northeastern United States of America. I have been a
Muslim since September 18th, 2001. This is my story of Islam and me.
“Jewish people celebrate Hanukah and are a different religion than us –
different from Christianity. Judaism and Christianity are the two main
religions we should focus on…” As a teacher of mine from ninth grade
reported to me I knew nothing of Islam. Nine years in Public School and
didn’t hear one word about Islam. To be honest with you up until 9\11 I
have never seen a hijaabed woman.

Prophet Mosque, Dome of Rock Mosque, Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Prophet's Mosque

It is the first Mosque to be built in Islam. The Prophet was buried in his
house, which was adjacent to the Mosque, as Prophets are to be buried
where they die. It is praiseworthy to greet the Prophet when
one passes by his grave.
The Prophet's Mosque in Madinahcan accommodate overtwo million people at one time.
Muslims perform prayer in the Prophet's Mosque in order to attain the great reward promised
for the one who performs prayer in it.

What Does Islam Say about Terrorism?

Islam, a religion of mercy, does not permit terrorism. In the Quran, God
has said: {God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers} (Quran, 60:8)

The New Testament

Gospel
Of course, Blake’s sentiment in the quote above is nothing new. The New
Testament contains enough inconsistencies to have spawned a dizzying
variety of interpretations, beliefs and religions, all allegedly Bible-based.
And so, we find one author offering the amusing observation:
You can and you can’t, You shall and you shan’t,
You will and you won’t, And you will be damned if you do,
And you will be damned if you don’t.Why such variance in viewpoints? To
begin with, different theological camps disagree on which books
should be included in the Bible.

The Old Testament

“[The Bible] has noble poetry in it; and some clever fables; and some
blood-drenched history; and a wealth of obscenity; and upwards of a
thousand lies.”
—Mark Twain, Letters from the Earth, Vol. II
Let’s begin by putting “two of every sort (of animal) into the ark,” and
then … Oh, wait. Was that “two of every sort,” as per Genesis 6:19, or
seven of clean and two of unclean animals, as per Genesis 7:2-3?
Hmm. Well, we’ve got up to 120 years to think about it, because that’s the
limit of the human lifespan, as per God’s promise in Genesis 6:3. So, just
like Shem …

Preservation of Quran (2 of 2): The written Quran

The entire Quran was however also recorded in writing at the time of revelation
from the Prophet’s dictation, may the blessing and mercy of God be
upon him, by some of his literate companions, the most prominent of them
being Zaid ibn Thabit.1 Others among his noble scribes were Ubayy ibn Ka’b,
Ibn Mas’ud, Mu’awiyah ibn Abi-Sufyan, Khalid ibn Waleed and Zubayr ibn
Awwam.2 The verses were recorded on leather, parchment, scapulae (shoulder
bones of animals) and the stalks of date palms.

Preservation of Quran (1 of 2): Memorization of the Quran

The Glorious Quran, the Muslims’ religious Scripture, was revealed in Arabic
to the Prophet Muhammad, may God praise him, through the angel Gabriel.
The revelation occurred piecemeal, over a period of twenty-three years,
sometimes in brief verses and sometimes in longer chapters.1
The Quran (lit. a “reading” or “recitation”) is distinct from the recorded sayings
and deeds (Sunnah) of the Prophet Muhammad, which are instead preserved
in a separate set of literature collectively called the “Ahadeeth” (lit.
“news”; “report”; or “narration”).

Muhammad’s Claim to Prophethood (Part 3 of 3): Was He Insane, a Poet, or a Sorcerer?

Was He Insane?
Someone who has dealt with mentally ill knows people can be identified
by their symptoms. Muhammad displayed no symptom of insanity at any
time in his life. No friend, wife, or family member suspected or abandoned
him due to insanity.
As for the effects of revelations on the Prophet, such as perspiration and
the likes, it was due to the intensity of the Message which he had to bear
and not due to any epileptic fit or instance of insanity...

Muhammad’s Claim to Prophethood (Part 2 of 3): Is He a Liar?

A Logical Analysis of His Claim
As discussed earlier, Muhammad made the claim, ‘I am God’s Messenger.’ Either he was
true in his claim or he was not. We will begin by the assuming the latter and investigate all
possibilities raised by skeptics of past and present, discussing some of their misconceptions.
Only if all other possibilities are exhausted can one reasonably claim that the only
possibility left is that he was true in what he claimed. We will also look at what the Quran
has to say on the matter.

Muhammad’s Claim to Prophethood (Part 1 of 3): Evidences of His Prophethood

Divine facilitation is proportionate to human need. God makes acquisition
easier as the need of humans increase. Air, water, and sunlight are necessary
for human survival, and thus God has granted their acquisition to all
without hardship. The greatest human need is to know the Creator, and
thus, God has made it easy to know Him. The evidence for God, however,
differs in its nature. In its own way, everything in creation is evidence of
its Creator. Some evidence is so obvious that any lay person can immediately
‘see’ the Creator, for instance, the cycle of life and death. Others
‘see’ the handiwork of the Creator in the elegance of mathematical theorems,
universal constants of physics, and the development of the embryo:

Why So Many Religions?

If there is only one God, then why are there so many religions? All religions
originated with Allah and then people began to add or take away from the
teachings so as to take control over each other.
{This day, those who disbelieved have given up all hope of your religion; so
fear them not, but fear Me. This day, I have perfected your religion for you,
completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.}
[Holy Quran 5:3].

The Big Questions (3) The Need for Revelation

In the previous two parts of this series, we answered the two "big
questions." Who made us? God. Why are we here? To serve and worship
Him. A third question naturally arose: "If our Creator made us to serve
and worship Him, how do we do that?" In the previous article I suggested
that the only way we can serve our Creator is through obeying His mandates,
as conveyed through revelation.

The Big Questions (2) The Purpose of life

The first of the two big questions in life is, "Who made us?" We addressed
that question in the previous article and (hopefully) settled upon
"God" as the answer. As we are creation, God is the Creator.
Now, let us turn to the second "big question," which is, "Why are we
here?"

The Big Questions (1)

At some point in our lives, everybody asks the big questions: "Who
made us," and "Why are we here?"
So who did make us? Atheists speak of the Big Bang and evolution,
whereas all others speak of God. Those who answer "I don't know" are
atheist for all intents and purposes, not because they deny God's existence,
but because they fail to affirm it.

The Legislation Guarding the Five Necessities

Islam came to protect five necessities for the human being. They
are: Religion, Life, Regeneration, Money and Brain.
Religion: Islam came to protect the human rights to choose his religion,
meanwhile encourage human to truly think and search about the
truth. Also, this protection contains spreading Islam, defending it and
preventing those who cast doubt on it from spreading their wrong ideas.
Life: Islam came to protect human life by preventing someone to kill
others or to kill himself. Also, this protection includes ordering one to eat
and drink to survive.

Chapter 112: One Third of the Qur’an Summarizing the Concept of God in Islam

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
1. Say: “He is Allah, the Unique.”
2. “Allah, the Self-Sufficient.”
3. “He does not give birth, nor was He born.”
4. “And there is none equal to Him."
(1) Say: “He is Allah, the Unique.” This verse represents Allah’s own affirmation of His
unique Monotheism, His inimitable Unity. Thus, the first verse is a command to the Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and whoever reads or recites this verse to affirm
Allah’s Unique Unity. He is one like whom there is no other. There are many unities in this
world, but they all are not unique as each unity has others similar to them. For example,
there is one Mount Everest, but there are other tall mountains similar to it. In the case of
Allah, there is no other unity similar to Him. All other unities can be divided into parts, while
Allah is unique in His unity and is as such indivisible.

Hijabed like Me A Non-Muslim Woman Experiments with Hijab

I walked down the street in my long white dress and inch-long, black hair one afternoon,
and truck drivers whistled and shouted obscenities at me. I felt defeated. I had just
stepped out of a hair salon. I had cut my hair short, telling the hairdresser to trim it as she
would a guy's. I sat numbly as my hairdresser skillfully sheared into my shoulder-length hair
with her scissors, asking me with every inch she cut off if I was freaking out yet. I wasn't
freaking out, but I felt self-mutilated.
